Losing a loved one suddenly is extremely difficult to come to terms with, but this can be made worse if someone else is responsible for their death, such as the driver of a motor vehicle or the deceased’s employer.
We understand the impact that the sudden loss of a loved one can have, not only emotionally but financially too. No doubt it will be difficult to know what to do if you believe that someone else is responsible for the accident.
We can help you to feel less confused about your next steps, so please do get in touch.
Why do I need legal advice?
Having a specialist solicitor on your side means you can utilise all of their experience to ensure the best settlement for you and your family. This will enable you, amongst other things, to receive reimbursement of the funeral costs; to recover compensation on behalf of the deceased’s dependants and in certain circumstances, to claim what is known as a Bereavement Award.
There may be investigations by the police, the Health and Safety Executive or other organisations so as to establish what exactly happened and where the responsibility for the accident lies.
Additionally, the local Coroner will have been notified of the death, and may decide to hold an Inquest. Our Fatal Injuries Team will guide you through the whole process.
It is best to get legal advice as early as possible - this is because there are time limits in place after which your claim for compensation will not be allowed.
How can we help you?
We know what a difficult time you are going through, you may even find it hard to talk about the accident, but we will help you through every step of the process and treat you with sensitivity. Needless to say we are also completely professional in our approach.
We will be clear with you about your claim and we will discuss all aspects of it with you in clear and easy to understand language so that you know where you stand legally.
You may be concerned about how you will afford to pay for a solicitor, but you shouldn’t be. There are options open to you to help you fund a claim for compensation on behalf of your loved one’s Estate and where relevant, his/her dependants. We will explain these options to you.
