Legal advice for businesses - Brendan Donohue talks to Business West

Getting legal advice when starting out in business may seem daunting, perhaps even unnecessary (“we’re just starting out, we can’t afford it?”, “we’ll just get ourselves started and review things after 6 months”). However, taking time to at least have a conversation about your hopes and plans for the future with a lawyer could help prevent unwise decisions being made. 

All too often businesses only ask for help when something’s already happened or is starting to go wrong, and it’s become a ‘damage limitation’ exercise. What you can do, how you can achieve it, and what it will cost, will almost certainly depend on the measures you already had in place to safeguard your position.
